About Dr. Alee Leteria, OTD, OTR/L

★★★★★

I have always been drawn to a career in helping others—thriving in spaces that challenge me to be a lifelong learner while making a tangible difference in the lives of others.

My journey to occupational therapy began in 2012 after my grandfather suffered a series of strokes that impacted his daily independence. Sitting in on his sessions, I witnessed firsthand the profound impact of a patient, compassionate, and highly skilled occupational therapist. Watching her help him relearn something as simple as putting on a shirt sparked a deep respect for the profession—and a clear sense of my own calling.

Before pursuing my doctorate, I played Division II college basketball at Stonehill College in Massachusetts. While my collegiate career was rewarding, the adversity of overcoming back and knee injuries is what truly shaped my perspective on care. Navigating my own recovery taught me the critical importance of rehabilitating both the body and the mind. It also reinforced the value of teamwork, patience, discipline, and perseverance—qualities I now bring to every patient I treat.

I earned my Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree from Midwestern University. During my time there, I served as Vice President of the Student Occupational Therapy Association, was appointed leader of team research on OT’s role in chronic pain management, and helped organize the university’s Annual Wheelchair Basketball event.

Since graduating, I have dedicated my career to serving older adults across acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, in-home care, transitional living and assisted living facilities. Today, my mission is helping seniors age safely and independently. I believe in a truly holistic approach—one that addresses physical needs while actively promoting emotional well-being, cognitive performance, and dignity. My ultimate goal is to empower my clients, family and caregivers to feel secure in their environments and to serve as a trusted, empathetic partner for families navigating the complexities of aging.
